I woke up one day and decided to quit my “real job” so that I could spend more quality time with my family. I was an Air Traffic Controller for 15 years, I am also a Commercial Rated, Multi-Engine Airplane, Instrument Rated Pilot. With all of these skills and knowledge I still could not figure out how to spend quality time with my family, so we deicide to move the west of coast of Puerto Rico and start a business which we could all be a part of.
I consider myself a waterman, which to me means that I love and feel comfortable in the water. I love the water so much that I have this intense desire to share what I do with everyone. As luck would have it, my friend Nick Leason was creating one of the most amazing water toys that had ever been thought up just 10 minutes away from my new home. It was only natural that we would start working together at some point.
It was not as easy as it sounds. We purchased the equipment necessary to start a foil school and two shorts months later not one but TWO major Hurricanes pass over our beautiful island. On September 20th 2017, Hurricane Maria completely stopped life as we knew it, my family left the Island and I stayed behind to provide Air Traffic Control Service for the military and humanitarian aid flights that we so desperately needed. I also did the best possible to help as much as I could in the surrounding community.
January 26th 2018, Seakindly started a very limited operation out of Rincon PR and slowly started to build momentum as tourist started to visit the Island again. It was happening!! Safety is very important to me and as Seakindly gathered momentum I started to become part of the water safety team during big wave events at Tres Palmas Surf Break. I was on top of the world learning from some of the best watermen from Puerto Rico and around the world.
March 11th, 2018, After the hurricanes everyone on the Island was in help mode. It was beautiful to watch everyone helping each other get back on their feet and start their businesses again. Of course I would help my friend when he asked for my assistance with an activity he was facilitating. While doing what I would normally do to help I sustained a life threatening injury that grounded me, my family and Seakindly indefinitely.
It is extremely important for me to accomplish my goals of sharing my love for the ocean with as many people as possible and of spending quality time with my family. With the help of Lift Foils and many other old and new friends, Seakindly is now fully operational and providing eFoil and Classic Foil Lessons by appointment in Rincon, Aguadilla, and San Juan Puerto Rico.
